Natural Processing

Natural Processing is a form of therapy that borrows from the bilateral neural stimulation of eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) with a focus on the autonomic nervous system (ANS) by tracking when an individual’s moves into either the parasympathetic or the sympathetic nervous system functions. People who struggle with anxiety or symptoms of trauma, their nervous systems are often in the parasympathetic mode in which the body is braced for fight or flight, and the brain is hypervigiliant of any possible threats. This is a taxing and exhausting state to remain in and Natural Processing facilitates movement out of the sympathetic mode so that the brain is better able to process the trauma.

For trauma work, Natural Processing is a great alternative to EMDR if processing the target memory in EMDR causes dissociation or if the intent it to process the physiological triggering of trauma.
